I felt that the "tran" from transient reminded me of "tran"sportation. And transient slumber is a true description of sleeping on the Bart, it's in and out because you have to stay alert for your stop. And it is also a reflection of my insomnia, unable to grasp a full nights sleep, it's also in and out.
